About Me

Evelyn “Evie” Waite was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica and raised in New York City. She developed a love for food and track and field from an early age. Went from the track field to the court playing basketball in junior high and high school. Spent her childhood and young adult years, up to her sophomore year of college volunteering in her community, no stranger to giving back and serving diligently. Evie started her college career at an HBCU- Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC before returning to the city that never sleeps to complete her last two years of her collegiate education at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Evie holds an undergraduate degree a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice/Computer Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a graduate degree a Master’s in Cybersecurity Management & Policy from the University of Maryland University Global Campus. She holds an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from The Community College of the Air Force. Evie enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 2010 after starting her career in the federal government, however, after six years of military service decided not to re-enlist and focus on her civilian career where there was more opportunity for growth.

Evie is the CEO of ELW Initiative, founder of Empower to InspiHER foundation, owner of M.E.A.’s Kitchen, a Digital Entrepreneur, Speaker, Event Planner and Coordinator, and Empowerment & Mindset Transformation Coach.

Even with all the accolades, veteran status, over fifteen plus years of government service, living on three continents, in three different countries, she is known as a travel enthusiast and foodie, and even through all the failures, setbacks, obstacles, heartache, depression, challenges, and successes, Evie’s greatest accomplishment is becoming a mom. “Becoming a mom was my awakening, the pivotal moment in my life where I realized the strength and power of my own voice, and that was the moment I began stepping into my power.” Having a daughter was the catalyst for my development as an empowered woman. Evie is a proud homeowner residing in Northern Virginia with her daughter and mother and says her home is “her happy place.”

Evie is no stranger to serving her country, she always had a passion for serving and giving back to her community. She wholeheartedly believes it is her life’s purpose to inspire, educate, empower, and impact the lives of people not just locally but globally. Even as a career-focused single mom and veteran, Evie actively pursues entrepreneurial ventures. She successfully manages M.E.A.’s Kitchen, a family-owned catering business with her mother and daughter. Additionally, she is the owner of ELW Initiative, a personal growth and self-development business that focuses on empowerment, mindset transformation, health and wellness, digital education accessibility, and E-Commerce. Evie is also an independent distributor for the health and wealth company NVisionU, and a permanent retail vendor and cultural ambassador for Veterans Growing America (VGA) in Woodbridge, VA.

Evie balances her time between family, her career, event planning and coordinating, vending at VGA on the weekends, managing her online store, promoting her company’s health and wellness products and their digital platform, and helping people start home-based businesses, to currently serving as the resources and wealth building coordinator for the Virginia Blacks in Technology, Fredericksburg chapter.

Presently, Evie is focusing her attention on nurturing the ELW Initiative brand. The inspiration for this endeavor stemmed from her own personal growth and self-development journey. ELW’s mission is to empower people to take the initiative to take control of their lives. Providing a platform for people to tell their stories, while focusing on transforming their mindset. ELW not only offers a variety of products to aid people on their health and wellness journey but also helps access to education, allowing people to learn valuable skill sets. In essence, the ethos of ELW can be succinctly captured in the slogan: “Empower * Love * Win!”

Evie continues to grow as a servant leader through her service to her country and community, coaching, mentorship, and leadership development. Evie is determined to show the world that being a mompreneur is her superpower.
